I have a 1973 volkswagen thing and just recently itconked out after driving about 8 miles I    waited about 10 minutes and it died again Iwaited about 15 minutes more and it started and ran another 5 miles and wouldent start. three hours later it started right up and ran another 7 or so miles and quit and I could no longer get it started.I had it towed. Ist smelled like it was dumping gas so I took the carb apart and everything looked fine . so I cleaned it up and put it back together. replaced points, condensor . the regulator and brake light used to stay on for a while and then go out. Now they seem to stay on most of the time. Do you think it could be the regulator? What kind of test do you suggest?
