I have a 2001 Volkswagen Golf, and the EPC and Airbag ...

I have a 2001 Volkswagen Golf, and the EPC and Airbag indiciator lights have turned on. The car won't come out of park without pressing the brakes while the key is half turned, and slipping the gear shift between Neutral and Drive. Are there any fuses or other simple things I can check before taking it in to the dealer?
