I have a Volkswagen Passat with daylight running lights my problem is the low beam headlight will not activate leaving me with only DRL at night. I have been told that running lights operate at a 60% level of low beams ,is this correct?

I'll give it a shot. The first things I would look for is any fuses, fuseable links, relays or the light switch itself and get them all tested. If you need help on this let me know and I'll see what I can do.

Reply to duke_350's Post: These were the first things I checked myself. I need to know if the driving lights are of a lesser intensity than normal headlights. There appears to be no difference to me and the lights appear to be very dim at night.

I am not sure if the DRLs operate at a lower intensity. I can try to find out if you like. I would be more concerned with the reason your lights aren't working properly though. This is something I would take up with the dealer since it is (or should be) under warrenty. I can see if anyone else can assist in the problem. Plesae let me know what you would like to do to continue. If you only want to know if the DRLs operate at a lesser intensity you may want to repost your question so someone better suited can answer it. I can possibly help you diagnose the problem, but being under warrenty I feel it would be a waste. Let me know what you would like to do and we can take it from there.
