I can't get the driver's door off our 2000 4cyl

I can't get the driver's door off our 2000 4cyl 4-D Volkswagen Passat? Clips seem to be stuck in the middle of the door near the handle. Is there a trick?

top & bottom of door is loose, but stuck in middle?
