My 98 Astro doesn't like to leave park. It appeared tied to the steering pump, because of other problems, but didn't disappear when the pump was replaced.   Haven't found any information on the circuit that could be affecting my ability to move from park to drive, so I don't know if it's a hydraulic problem, an electrical problem or a mechanical problem. I'd just as soon disable the "safety" feature, since it has almost left me stranded in the toolies several times.

Optional Information:
1998 Chevrolet Astro 4.3

Already Tried:
New power steering pump and hoses

Take nothing for granted: I foolishly assumed all knew I was stepping on the brake, at the same time I tried to move from park. That's a given requirement anymore, but I admit I should have noted the fact. At any rate, the answer doesn't jive with the facts: With the new power steering pump feeding the brake booster, it is comming out of park quicker (within fifteen seconds) and more often, but it still hangs up. It appears worse in colder weather and when the rig is cold. Prior to replacing the pump, letting the van run for five minutes, before steping on the brake and pulling the shifter out of park, was the magic trick. I haven't bleed the brakes, but it acts like it needs to build pressure. Could be a fluke, but........
