I have a 1991 chevy g-20 van it has a 350 cubic inch eng.

I have a 1991 chevy g-20 van it has a 350 cubic inch eng. my problem is when i try to start it it wont turn over,the batt. terminals heat up and as soon as i dis connect them they cool off until itry again.is there any clue for me on this problem.please help thank you.
