I took my 99 Chsyler Town and Country to a transmission shop to have a "cooler" line replaced and the tranmission flushed. Before picking up the van, I received a call from the shop telling me there were larger than normal amounts of "metal" in the drained fluid and this was indicative of a probable transmission "failure". This failure could occur at any time. I was strongly urged to have the transmission rebuilt at a cost of $2,700.
Up to this point, my van had been running just fine (74,000 miles). Before authorizing the work, I remembered I purchased a 8 year, 80,000 warranty that covers the transmission from Chysler. I phoned them and told them about the transmission. They said the policy only pays if the transmission "fails". Well, the van drives fine, as it always has, but now I face the prospect of the damn thing falling apart at 80,001 miles. Any suggestions, thoughts or ideas of what I can do?
