95 astro van sliding door won't latch. Have been told that something in the door bends over time and has to be reinforced to cure the problem. What have you heard? Happened once before and was temporarily fixed by putting a slide hammer in back side of the door and pulling something back with two hard hits. Took it back to the same shop and the people that fixed it aren't there any more and the current people didn't know about the fix. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Optional Information:
1995 Chevrolet astro van 4.3

Already Tried:
body shop used slide hammer to pull something back in the door to allow it to latch.

Still waitng on a response. Further review at a shop indicates the door will need to be cut outat the latch area and reinforced before the latch is reinstalled. Know of any easier and less expensive way?
