I have a 2000 Chevy Astro Van with a 4.3L V-6 motor. It has all the sudden started misfiring. Runs real rough, starts very hard. I put it at TDC and all seems timed OK. The distributor looks news, plug wires ohm OK. All the plugs look and ohm good and are tight. The coil is producing a very generous output. Engine runs like all cylinders are out of time. Any ideas??

Optional Information:
2000 Chevrolet Astro 4.3L

Already Tried:
Distributor, ignition module, pick-up coil, ohm plugs and wires. Checked ouput of coil.

First off all I don't know how you checked or attempted to adjust the ignition timing because it is not adjustable.Checking the resistance of ignition wires is a big waste of time. That being said start the engine and spray water on the engine and see if the operation of the engine gets worse a garden hose works fine.If it does replace the cap, rotor and wires. Those engines are noted for the coil wire breaking internally and also the power and ground wires to the coil so check them.It would also be a great idea to check the fuel pressure right now and not guess that it is ok.You need 55-60 psi if it's 40 or 45 it's no good.If you fould a way to move your distributor it would be a good idea to have some one with a good scan tool read and check the cam position retard on the engine.I have a feeling wires and the cap will fix it though.

I knew the timing was not adjustable. I'm an old school mechanic, 60's 70's hot rods no computers. What I did was put it at TDC #1 and verified the pointing of the rotor which was #1. I tried spraying water on the engine as the first thing but got no changes. I tried different wires, distributor cap and rotor to no avail. I pulled the plugs and they looked OK, only 5000 miles on them. This problem was not a gradual thing, it happened all the sudden. My next task is to acquire a fuel pressure gauge and check pressure as you indicated. The "Check Engine Light" does flash which I always thought indicated unburnt fuel in the exhaust.
