Hi, I have a 1997 chrysler Town and Country mini van 3.8 engine. It has just over 115000 miles. The engine will lose power and then die after about two hours of highway driving, it will restart and run just fine after about 30 minute, but it will only run for about 30-45 more minutes before the same thing happen again. I'm getting a service engine soon light, code 12,51 and 55. I have already replace both up and down stream oxgen sensors from early trouble codes and at a friends suggestion, the PCV value and related hoses.

Optional Information:
1997 Chrysler Town and Countr 3.8

Already Tried:
replaced PVC value and hoses, both oxgen sensor, both crank and cam shaft position sensor, both in and output transmission sensors.

I havn't taken the van to the repair shop. I don't have the test equipment to do a OBDII diagnostic. I'm very tight on money right now, so I was trying to repair it myself. Is that possible without the diagnostic or will the chrysler house test it for free?

Hi Dogday, Sounds to me the codes you are getting are due to a lean fuel condition. Since the vehicle stops running and restarts after it cools leads me to beleive the fuel pump is failing. You have to remove the fuel tank to replace it. If you want to try let me know and I can get you directions. Good Luck
