Will it also act up under normal driving conditions if you do not have the cruise control on?

You may have an internal problem, but if I remember correctly I think GM may have a service bulletin for this problem. If you can give me a couple of hours I will see if I can find that bulletin and get back to you. If there isn't one then we will go from there.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you. There are a couple of similar problems that GM has had problems with. Two of them are internal problems to where debris starts to clog the bleed off valves in between gears. I am not sure ir this is something you want to fix yourself. Another is the fact that if your Mass Air Flow sensor gets dirty it can cause this. This is especially possible if you have an aftermarket air filter in it. I would start by removing this sensor and cleaning it out with throttle body cleaner and let me know what happens.

Relist:
Thank you, I checked with an obdII and got no codes, put in transmission additive and cleaned mass air flow sensor. Seems to work better now and I'll keep my fingers crossed for the future.
