How to fix my speedometer for a 1994 Nissan Truck V-6 4+4

The speedometer is not working. I bought a manual and it told me there is a cable but when I got down to the point on the Transmission where it is connected there are no cables just wires. Which leads me to believe is electronic but I still do not know how to fix it.
