DISABLING MY FUEL SYSTEM

Sent to Car Experts August 10 08:03 PM

I HAVE A 2001 FORD F-250 TRUCK WITH A 6.8 LITER V10 ENGINE.I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO DISABLE THE FUEL SYSTEM.I ASKED THIS SAME QUESTION LAST WEEK.THE ANSWER WAS FUSE #19 OR RELAY #3.I MUST BE 100% SURE AND I THINK MAYBE MORE RESEARCH IS NEEDED.I HAVE PURCHASED A SUPERCHIPS MICRO-TUNER TO REPROGRAM MY COMPUTER CHIP.THEY TELL ME MAJOR DAMAGE WILL OCCUR IF THE FUEL SYSTEM IS NOT DISABLED.

Well I can tell you this much.If you pull the fuel pump fuse or the fuel pump relay the pump is not going to run.It has to have power to run and the power goes through both of those before it gets to the pump.Removing either one creates an open circuit so no voltage will get to the pump.So go ahead and do what you need to do after you pull either one.The truck won't run with them disconnected either unless the programmer you are adding gets tied into the fuel pump somewhere.
