Question

92 nissan truck a/t

Sent to Car Experts July 23, 2006 7:33 p.m.

My 92 Nissan pickup, 2.4, AT will not shift out of 1st. At 25 mph when the engine is very warm, it slips out of 1st but will only slip, never completing the shift. It was rebuilt 16K miles back. This happened suddenly with no hint of a problem until it simply failed to upshift. Is there an external modulator I can replace? What else can I look for short of a new trans.? Car has over 200K so I hope to keep it running but not to invest in a new trans. Will gladly pay $15 for good advice. Hope I've done this correctly. My wife inadvertently ran the car up to 45 w/o letting up on the throttle to allow it to shift just before this occurred. Thanks.
