Reply to MechanicMan's Post: The first problem I have is that the gauge is misreading, sometimes it fluctuates and as of late it doesn't show below the 1/2 mark when in fact it is totally on E. The second issue I have is that it appears that I am losing gas because a fulll tank usually lasts about 1 1/2 weeks on the route that I take back and forth to work and lately I've been having to fill up twice a week. It seems all of these issues just arose when I had my oil change about 2 months ago; prior to that I never had a problem with my vehicle and of course the service station exclaimed that it was nothing that they had done. HELP!!!!

Hello

In my opinion I would replace both the fuel pump, sending unit and gasket. You may be able to get them through your local auto parts store as a whole assembly, if not at the dealer. You can use your old fuel pump if you want to It seems that you travel a lot of miles and the age of the vehicle would warrant both parts. You will want to check wiring by using the new the new sending unit and moving to different postons and watch gas gauge

The best thing is to figure out your mileage, is to fill up and record mileage, when you fill up the 2nd time recheck mileage and gallons. Divdie gallons into mileage. (not the $$ that will drive you crazy...lol).

There may also be maintenence issues, plugs, fuel and air filters.

If you have any more questions I will be happy to help. Reply to your original post. Thanks

Reply to MechanicMan's Post: I forgot to tell you the mileage. When I bought the Blazer the mileage was 34354 and it now reads 62243; since I've had the vehicle (2yrs), I've only traveled 27889mi. I only go back and forth to work with maybe 1 or 2 deviations and I HAD pretty good mileage then. 2 weeks ago I took a 5 Hr(both ways)trip but other than that I don't travel far. Before I took the trip my mileage was 61145 which is only 1098 mi in 3 months
***It cost me less money to got to Universal Studios than it does to drive back and forth to work*** ;-)
I had the fuel and air filters changed when I got the oil change, I don't remember if I had the plugs changed because that place didn't provide that service.
I read in another forum that the sending unit is attached to the fuel pump but can be changed without having to replace the pump itself and also check to see if the wiring is loose at the harness. I'm really trying to take the path with the least resistance..what do you suggest

In my reply I suggest replacing both because of the work involved I also stated that you could use the old f/p. I want to apologize I thought you had a route and ASSUMEd you had at least 100K. Your truck is below the avg.

But if this has helped don't forget to hit the accept button.

Thanks
