To replace the rear leaf spring shackel bracket on a 1988 ...

To replace the rear leaf spring shackel bracket on a 1988 Ford F-150, how do you take the tension off the leaf spring to remove the bolt holding the shackel to the shackel bracket, do you lift the truck or the leaf spring?

You need to lift the truck and place a jack stand and let the suspension hang. Then you should put the jack under the leaf spring with just barely any pressure. This will keep the leaf spring from having tension on it, and keep the weight of the spring off of it.

Can you turn the bolt? If so try turning it while pushing on it from the other end.

Reply to BOBBY's Post: Yes we can turn the bolt but we can't get to the other end to push on it. The screw driver will not fit.
