i bought a 383 stroker motor.when it was hookedup it will ...

i bought a 383 stroker motor.when it was hookedup it will not idle so the timing can be set.changed the carb. on it and still won't idle.

Optional Information:
1983 Chevrolet 80's truck 350

Already Tried:
tried to adjust 2 diffrent carb's on it.tried loosing tappits.

does it run at all ? does it stay running if you hold the throttle part way- how DOES it run?

Reply to Car Stereo GOD's Post: the machenic said it would run but seemed like it was flooding and would'nt idle.tryed every thing with carb.
