i have a ford f with the anti theft system it recently

Sent to Car Experts December 16 09:38 PM

I have a Ford F-150 with the anti theft system. It recently began to fail to start from time to time. I can turn the key and nothing happens. the IP panel lights will come on but that is it. When this occurs the accessory possitin on the ignition will not work either. When the key is in the "ON" position I notice the radio will not come on. After some time (1 - 20 minutes) it will decide to start. Really stumped here. Robert

Optional Information:
2000 Ford f-150 302

Reply to Gene's Post: Yes, I have tried the second key and the symptoms do not change. It is beginning to happen more frequently now. I cleaned the battery terminals which looked pretty clean to begin with. The fact that the accessory position on the ignition will not work when it is acting up like this is very puzzling. This position works fine when it isn't acting up. The theft light will blink about every 2 seconds as the mannual says is normal. The theft light will go out after starting in about 5 seconds.

Yes, THeft falses on two second intervals and yes I have tried to start it in neutral.

I have also tried holding the shift lever in the upper and lower edges of Park (P).

It seems to do it on short hops. I went to the store this morning and returned. About a 10 minute trip. when I tried to start it 15 minutes after returning home it would not start.

I tried it again about 4 hours later and it started.
thank you
