1994 suzuki samurai 1.3 litre fi 5spd trans will not shift ...

1994 suzuki samurai 1.3 litre fi 5spd trans will not shift into 5th gear or reverse. there is no grinding or any other noises, just simply will not go in those two gears.

The componant that both of these gears share is the shift rod. The rod is waht the shifter engages into to push the fork into the synchronizer to engage the gears. You could have a bad rod, roll pin or even the yoke itself. It sounds like the probalem is in the upper part of the transmission. You will need to pull the transmission in order to be able to see into the case to see what came disconnected or broke.
