Good evening. My wife has a Subaru GL that died in traffic ...

Good evening. My wife has a Subaru GL that died in traffic today. When I tried to start it this evening (left in a grocery store parking lot) the engine turned, but on about every third crank the starter felt like it was not engaging the engine and the tachometer would jump. Any Ideas on what this could be?

ok...but sure sounds like a belt slipped or jumped with the kicking back of starter.... you will have to start with the basics.... spark,fuel and compression....check for spark first since its the easiest....
