You'll need to replace the CMP (Camshaft Position Sensor) as well. It actually needs to be tested using an automotive labscope, but commonly both sensors have a high failure rate, and one can set the others code. For example, if you have a failed CKP (Crankshaft Position Sensor) it can set a DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) for the CMP, if the CMP has failed, it will set a CKP code. It's such a common failure on earnly Subaru's, that the dealer sells these sensors in a kit, which comes with both. The PCM, has an internal Capacitor, which holds a small amount of voltage for memory, but is not serviceable. The CMP is located on the left (Driver's) side of the front of the engine.
