my suburu legacy loses battery charge over weeks even
Sent to Car Experts December 18 08:13 PM

My Suburu 93 legacy loses battery charge over 2 weeks even with new battery. Alternator show 14 v charging. Is it a slow electrical leak typical on Suburu's? What to look for, I have heard others have the same problem on their Suburu, but no diagnosis. no trunk, hood, glove compartment lights stay on either. Checked all obvious causes of leaks. Turn lights off at night, even tho automatic. Thanks

Optional Information:
1993 Subaru 4dr legacy std.

Already Tried:
checked ground cable, turned everything off at night, made certain no hood, truck, glove compartment light stays on.

Hello
You will need a digital volt meter to perform this test. Remove only the negative battery terminal and hook-up your digital volt meter. Put one clip on the cable and the other on the battery post. (While Disconnected) You will read voltage across from one end to the other. The cars computer will normally draw a small amount of voltage, usually less that 6 volts. If the voltage is higher than 10 volts I would say something is wrong. If this is a condition known to Suburu it is possible that the computer is drawing more than required.
This is a simple test that will confirm any draw while the vehicle is turned off.
You described your issue well, I hope this advice helps.
