Ramcharger electrical problem
Sent to Car Experts January 08 10:18 PM

I have a 1979 Dodge Ramcharger. One of the wires, under the dash and near the bottom of the steering post was shorting out as it rubbed next to a "green colored electrical box" which is at this location. After a huge spark flashed, the engine quit and I lost all electrical power to headlamps, tailights, etc. Can you advise what has happened? and how to repair this?

Thanks

You most likely melted one of the fusable links. You should be able to find them under the hood, near the battery and probably near the starter relay. They are special meltaway wires. Pull on eah one and if it stretches, it's burnt inside. Be sure to use only fusable link material, never regular wire. Check all your regular fuses also.
