Hello Customer (name blocked for privacy),

OK, you've got a miss under load. That is almost always a ''secondary ignition'' problem. OK, the secondary ignition contains #1 the spark plugs. #2 The spark plug wires. #3 The ignition coil #4 The distributor cap (if equipped) and the ignition rotor.

I would replace the spark plugs and see what happens. That alone will probably fix this.

REASON: When a spark plug wears, the gap gets larger. The bigger the gap the more voltage it takes more fire the spark plug. Also, when the vehicle is ''under load'' the voltage required to fire the spark plug goes WAY up. Your coil has a maximum output. When the voltage required to fire the plug EXCEEDS the max output of the coil, you get a miss. The same applies; The bigger the load, the more voltage needed to fire the spark plug. So, to sum things up, I think you need new spark plugs. I would look at my air filter also. A dirty air filter will make your car use a lot more gas than it should, lose power too. Try that and let me know if you need further assistance, OK?

Sincerely, Pete (Peterd156)

The car has 78500. miles, at 50,000. a new set of plugs, cap and wires
were installed. I have my oil changed every 3000 miles and they are
always checking filters and such.
