I have a 71 Nova with a 350 4 barrell carb. I was driving the car and the engine just stop running. It was like I just shut the engine off. Now I try to start it and it just trys to crank but never fires. Any ideas where I should start?

 

Optional Information:
Pre-1981 Chevrolet Nova 350

Already Tried:
Made sure i had gas, check the kill switch, check to make sure all plugs are tight

Hello, have you checked to see if you have any spark? You can do this by removing a plug wire at the spark plug and putting a screw driver in the end. Then hold the screww driver about a quarter of and inch away from the engine and have somebody crank it over. You should see a spark jump between the engine and the screw driver.

Do you know what kind of distributor that you have? Is the coil in the distributor cap?

If you look at your ditributor cap is there a short spark plug wire that goes to the center of it and the other end goes to a coil, or is there a small dome like shape on the cap?
