My 20 yr old daughters 1987 Saturn just stopped in the middle of street traffic yesterday. After letting it sit for one hour it did start enough for her to drive home 20 miles. This morning I put in coolant which was totally empty. Could that have been the cause for her car stopping? Her mom

We are both afraid to drive it although it starts up and sounds normal.

Don't be affraid to drive it, just let it idle for a while and maybe take it around the block. See how it drives and let me know. If the coolant was that low the car could have begun to overheat causing the computer to shut down the engine until it cooled off. Like I said, let it idle for a while, but watch for any coolant leaks and watch the temperature gauge. The coolant has to have gone someplace. Let me know what happens.
