i own a '95 saturn SL2, DOHC and it has a LOT of miles on it. it goes through moments where it starts to sputter like it's about to die, mainly when I come to a stop, and the lights even fade in and out. about 2 days ago i got on the highway and when i tried to accelerate, it wouldn't accelerate much. i pushed the accelarator almost all the way down and it barely raised the RPMs. the place who changed the oil filter says my battery needs replacing soon, but what could be causing my car to sputter?

With the high mileage, you may have a plugged up catalytic converter.

You can easily check this by disconnecting the exhaust at the manifold and driving it with open exhaust to see if the problem goes away.

Reply to Hammer Time's Post: I would like more options as to what else it could be if that doesn't work.
