REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

See Figure 1

  1. Raise the rear of the vehicle and support safely using jackstands, then remove the rear wheel.

  2. If equipped with an Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), disconnect the negative battery cable, then unplug the ABS speed sensor connector.

  3. If equipped with rear disc brakes, remove the 2 caliper-to-knuckle mounting bolts from the rear of the knuckle, then use a length of wire to suspend the caliper from the strut, clear of the knuckle.

  4. Remove the brake drum or rotor, as applicable.

  5. Remove the 4 hub/bearing-to-knuckle bolts and remove the assembly from the vehicle.

To install:

  1. Position the brake backing plate and the hub/bearing assembly, then secure the components to the knuckle using the retaining bolts. Tighten the bolts to 63 ft. lbs. (85 Nm).

  2. Install the brake drum or the rotor and caliper. If applicable, tighten the caliper retaining bolts to 63 ft. lbs. (85 Nm).

  3. If equipped, install the ABS wiring harness to the speed sensor.

  4. Install the wheel assembly, remove the supports and carefully lower the vehicle. If applicable, connect the negative battery cable.

Is it easy to remove and reassemble the brake drum in step 4? How much time does this job take? Thanks.
