Hello Customer (name blocked for privacy), does the check engine light happen to come on at any time when this happens?

yes it does.it'll blink on and off while the engine jerks and after a while go off and the car will be running seemingly great. the oxygen sensor was replaced less than 1000 miles ago

ACCEPTED Check Mark

The first thing I would do is go to your local autoparts store and have them scan your computer for codes. If the light has come on then there is a possibility that the computer may have recorded the problem. Also, can you tell me how many miles you have on the vehicle? If you have the chance to get these codes come back here with them and we can go from there.

Hello again,
the computer readout was "random multiple cylinder misfire" or code P0300. the car has 155000 miles

Have you had any parts replaced recently? When was the last tune up done?

i had it at a specialized Saab shop about 1000 ago, which replaced the O2 sensor, battery and main battery cables, read and reset the check engine light. I had asked them to do a tune up but they told me the car was running fine and didn't need one.and in fact it's been running great since... up to a few days ago

The first thing I would recommend checking would be the fuel pressure. You will need to see what the fuel pressure is reading and we can go from there. Do you have access to a pressure gauge? Also when was the last time the fuel filter was changed?

the fuel pump was replaced about 20,000 miles ago, but i doubt the fuel filter ever was. I'm going to have the fuel pressure tested and change the fuel filter and see what happens. The guy who tested the computer code mentionned something about "maybe the coil pack(?)". Does it make sense?
