how do i remove the pin from a alternator pully of a 1990 4 runner

im replacing the alternator pully on my toyota 4 runner (1990) and i am not able to get the pin out. part of it has broken off.

 What pin? Doesn't it have a large nut holding the pulley on?

  Did you get a new alternator from the parts store without a pulley? Or a different pulley?

Reply to enginboy's Post: no i just have the pulley to replace apparently its the woodruff key or the half moon key thats chipped off and i need to take off so i can replace it.

 You should be able to get underneath that with a small pointed punch. What's holding it in there, corrosion or overheating?  I really don't understand why it has to come out in the first place.  If your shaft is damaged, you need an alternator not a pully.

Reply to Tech501's Post: the only thing that broke was the pulley and the key it chipped off and now doesnt hold the pully on the shaft. so we v bought a new pulley and woodruff key to replace it. the shaft and alternator are fine

 Well, if the key is frozen in the shaft, the shaft's not OK, no is it?
