Missing Oil
Sent to Car Experts February 16 03:20 PM

1998 Chevy Prizm, 65k miles, no oil leaks and no blue smoke but I must put in a quart of oil every 2,000 miles or so. What is wrong?

You are probably loosing a little oil past the oil rings and the valve seals. You are not seeing any blue smoke because the cat. is catching most of it and releasing it at speed in small amounts. It is not that unusual to use some oil between oil changes especally when you are going by milage and not by actual running time of the engine.( In town driving with a lot of stop and go traffic) I would not be real concerned about it.
