Do I need to remove the manifold or should if slip out? I need another inch of clearance. I have the new starter to replace it with but can't get the old out --working underneath. I can't see the electric plug to undo until starter starts out. Help. in the drive. Thanks roger

The manifold does not come out, the engine is slightly lifted upward in order to remove this starter. Below are the factory removal instructions.
