I have a 1997 Chevy Malibu and it is hard to start. Sometimes it smells like gas in the car, but the full pump was replaced 3 years ago. When i put the key in the ignition an turn it to on, the only lights that come on is the theft light and airbag blinks but goes off. I turn it off then back on and all the lights appear, but when i try to start it, it sounds like it wants to turn over but it doesn't. Then, i'll turn it back and try it again then it will start. We bought a new fuel filter but no one can seem to put it in ( not even the dealer) because the clip is stuck. What ever that means. Could it be the fuel pump, starter, fuel filter, ignition coil, what . Please help.
