I have a 1995 Izusu Rodeo 4WD w/ AT. I just spent $600 + repairing the Transmission and 2 months later the same thing is happening... I think it was a faulty diagnosis. The problem started when the "Check Trans" light comes on and the trans goes into "Fail / Safe" mode and only starts in 3rd gear... you have to put it into low to get it moving. The repair was done a 2nd time and it still does the same thing. I've talked with a couple or trans shops and now one of them is starting to think it's an electrical or computer problem. As long as the "check trans" light does not come on it works great and there appears to be no problem with the transmission. When it is not working the "Check Trans" light come on even when the key is turned on without starting the engine or moving the vehicle. The places I've taken it to do not seem to know the answer and I don't want to spend a bunch more $$ and get nothing. The "Check Trans" light blinking code blinks code "82" when checked by those in the know. The problem seems to occur mostly during hot weather. Could the computer be affected by the heat?? Before I spend a lot of money, I'd buy a used computer and try that, but do these have to be recoded, and how is that done? It's frustrating because as long as the light does not come on itd works great, but I never know how far I can go before that happens. Any suggestions or ideas would be much appreciated.
Thanks.
