How to remore the fuel filler neck from the gas tank of a 1973 mach 1 mustang.

Optional Information:
Pre-1981 Ford mustang 351 C

Already Tried:
The fuel filler neck is held in the tank by a round pipe seal. The fuel filler neck wil not come loose from the seal. There is no clamp or anything visible holding the filler pipe in the seal but it will not come loose, therefor the tank cannot be removed from the car. The filler pipe has to come loose from the tank before either the tank or filler pipe can be removed from the car. No clamp or attaching device is visible holding the filler pipe. Does the filler pipe just slide in the fuel filler seal without any type of clamp holding it. If this is the case I don't understand why it is so hard to remove the pipe. Any way if I can't remove the filler pipe I can't remove the fuel tank to replace it.
