I tried to take off my a/c compressor clutch assembly. The bolt on the puller stripped out. What is the best way to pull that assembly? I believe the coil is bad and would like to replace.

Are you saying that the tool threads are stripped or the clutch threads are stripped. If it is the tool you will need a new tool. If it is the clutch then you may be able to get it off using two screwdrivers, but you will ruin the clutch components. You will need to reassemble with new parts. If it still won't come off you may need to look at replacing the compressor and clutch. Allot of times these threads and clutch parts are very rusty and do not come apart the way they are supposed to.

Reply to autodoc_2000's Post: The puller threads are stripped, yes I will have to buy a new puller. I bought a new clutch and coil assembly from NAPA. But, the assembly will not budge when I tighten down puller. Are you saying, as I am pulling with the puller I should use screw drivers to try to pry off the clutch assembly? Can I tap on the assembly with a hammer?

First of all you will need to get a puller that can get a good grip on the clutch after that spray it down with penetrating oil and tighten up the puller. Use a hammer and tap on the puller end it may break loose the grip from the impact. If the puller wont pull it then screwdrivers are not going to help you out either. You can try a cut off wheel but most of the clutch kits require a core and it will be tight to try to cut the clutch off without damaging the compressor nose.
