Question

1993 olds 3.3 crank sensor problem

Sent to Car Experts May 06, 2006 9:38 a.m.

I have a 1993 Olds cutlas ciera with a 3.3. The harmenic ballancer seperated from the rubber center and was nocking bad. I tried to remove the ballancer but it wouldent budge. So I had to resort to cutting it off with a torch. Obviously the crasnk sensor and oil seal needed to be replaced and I did. But where I cut it off just so happened to be where the keyway was located. I ran a weld on to of the keyway and ground it down to make a new key. After putting it all back together the engine wont start. a friend of mine said maybe all that heat caused the timing belt to melt but I found out that this engine has a timing chain, Is there any thing else I can do to tell if this sensor is functioning correctly? There are four pins I think on the sensor and I'm not sure what they should read. It seems like the computer is not recognizing the signal.
