86 olds toro 3.8 won't start but if you drop a little gas in the throttle body it starts and will run till you shut it off then wont start again has 40lbs fuel pressure

DO YOU AT ANY TIME HAVE A CHECK ENGINE LAMP COME ON, IF SO HAS THE CODE BEEN PULLED? WITHOUT ADDING THE FUEL, WILL IT START IF YOU PRESS THE ACCELLERATOR PEDAL TO THE FLOOR AND CRANK IT THAN?
