I have a jeep grand cherokee 1999 and when I slow down my oil gauge drops down when I stop it drops to the bottom and the check gauge light comes on. Could that be a sensor?

Either the gauge or the sender unit is bad or you have low oil pressure. Make sure your oil is full and check your oil pressure. You will need gauges to do this so you might wanna take it to a mechanic. If your oil pressure drops down too low it could destroy your engine. If your oil pressure is good You probably need a new sender unit. Hope this helps.

Reply to mike's Post: I checked the oil it is good, but if the sender unit is bad would that damage the engine? Do you have any idea what a sender unit repair would cost?

Thank you
