1987 class c motor home, onan generator, flip switch ...

1987 class c motor home, onan generator, flip switch to sart side and generator runs, until yoou let the switch go back to center, generator dies...will run as long as you hold the switch in the start position...[have gas...oil up to full level....help?

Make sure there are no lose or damage wires that go to the switch,if eveything checks out the switch is bad and needs replaced.

Reply to Kevin Krause's Post: NEITHER THE SWITCH ON THE INSIDE OR ON THE GENERATOR ITSELF, WHEN RETURNED TO THE CENTER POSITION WILL KEEP THE GENERATOR RUNNING.....DOES THAT MEAN BOTH SWITCHES ARE BAD?

I read that if the generator is not making power it will not stay running...how can it "not be making power"?
