Question

clutch a/c 2000

Sent to Car Experts September 17, 2005 1:07 p.m.

2000 e150 4.6v, when i am cruising the a/c works good when stopped it stops, from what i understand it could be the compressor or clutch as well as the fan clutch. how can i figure this out at home.

I took a piece of papper and placed it in front of the radiator and it sucked the paper in. Does mean the fan clutch is good?

REPLIED Check Mark

You are likely low on refrigerant, the pressures change when there is no air flowing thru the condenser. The pressure switch shut of the compressor.

You will need a set of gauges to confirm this, but that would be the most likely cause.
