Hi Customer (name blocked for privacy) and welcome to Just Answer! To answer your first question with the mirror. These mirrors have a problem with going bad and when they do they turn that yellow color and will not change back, but it is not drawing power while it is doing that. The only way to fix that is to replace the glass in the mirror. They are usually very high and can range between $110US to almost $300US depending on the model. The service suspension message is ussually has problem with the struts or the sensors. I am not sure what chip your mechanic is talking about. All modules are reprogrammable type on these car, no chip inside them. As far as the draw on the battery, what they need to do is start pulling one fuse at a time till the draw goes away and then look at that circuit to find the draw. I know it is not the mirror. If you have further quetions please ask. __________________ If this helped you, click ACCEPT. I don't get paid if you don't click accept. I will help as much as possible. Thanx for your response but before accepting, the problem found with the battery was the battery itself - defective.
I appreciate your info re: the outside rear mirror; will not replace it.
Lastly, I want to give you the 'code'# on the 'service suppension' message to see if you might 'determine'if the problems is struts or the sensor. New rear brake drums have been installed & I will not have the car 'til later in the evening to determine if the 'message' still appears. If it does, I would like to give you the code # to learn if you're able to determine whether the problem is 1 or the other you'd mentioned. This 'unknown' was the mechanic's problem & to determine which it is would cost me $300 & if incorrect, another $400+.
I will definitely accept paying when/if you're able to determine what the problem via the code #
Thank you.

Rob: The 'service suspension' code on the '98 STS is: exp id 84. Hope you're able to determine whether this is 'struts' or a 'sensor' problem when you're back online.

Sorry I did not really look at this code last night. What is "exp id 84" The code should be a letter and four numbers.

Where'd you go?? Have waited an hour & no Rob! I won't be back online 'til 4 p.m. Fri & will check then to see if you were able to learn about the codes. I 'expect' the suspension message might refer to the 'struts' - which aren't a problem to my knowledge. This STS is 'loaded' with 126,000 kilometers on the odometer & drives like a dream machine which makes me believe the message 'isn't' referring to a strut problem. Possibly a 'sensor' problem? Back Friday.

I thought the name was quite appropriate when I chose it some yrs ago. While in university, I heard a prof once say everything you hear is someone else's regurgitation. So - that's 'how' furball became my email 'surname'. Seems many more have sinced adopted it as a number follows the name^-^ Have owned 2 cats (deceased) & now a dog (llasa - doesn't molt!).
About 'your' cat..I wasn't/am not sure it is a cat or part dog!! (You asked!) but it sure looks like it's in shock ^-^
We're keeping a close eye on your politics here & 1 individual from Ontario,Canada (where I live) attended the Obama campaign in Grand Rapids, Mich. yesterday. Said it was 'tremendous'.
K - back to the Yanks from this Canuck eh!

I am still trying to get some help on this. The codes you gave me are not what the Cadillacs in the US have. I have a friend up north I called and he is looking into it for me. I will be back in touch.

Rob: Sorry I'm late. Had a bit of a 'crisis' here. You're going to an awful lot of work to try distinguish & resolve this message readout. I sincerely appreciate it and hope you weren't 'insulted' with my answer to the question of your cat. Put in different terms, it looks like a deer caught in the headlights of a car ^-^

No weekends off?? - especially holiday weekends! What a great job you've got & 'tight wads' like myself offering pennies for the time. After paying out $900 yesterday for a new battery (partial reimbursement LATER), a brake caliber & new rear brake pads, it dug rather deeply into my forced retirement piggy bank. Have been disabled since '95 & this Caddy is the ONLY vehicle I've been able to ride in comfortably for med treatment. THANX SO MUCH for your kindness.

That's just fine but I don't think you'll get a definite answer (sorry about the pessimism ^-^)if the car isn't analysed (which was the case & couldn't be definitely determined). You sure are full of determination!! (I admire that..)

Thanks, Rob, for EVERYTHING you've tried to learn to help. Lastly - as a suggestion - get a picture of a kitten! It's a more appropriate description of you ^-^ This kitty is now going to cough up the furball that you may get onto the many others needing your help.
