hi i have a 2001 chy. 300m , the problem i have is that five of the six coil connectors work fine but one of the coils gets hot because, one of the connector have a solid ground the other five have pulsing groud. ive test each of the connector and the one that doesnt work has power on top portion and constant ground on the bottom of connector. all of the other five have a pulssing ground on the bottom. can anyone help me resolve this problem.

check all sensor and relays, check for any broken or ground wire, this with put scanner to car ecm

Hi Nelson,The pulsing ground is what triggers the coils, it is done by the PCM individually for each coil. You should disconnect the coil and see if you now get a pulsing ground from the connector coming from the PCM.If you do you have a coil that is shorted and need to be replaced. If you don't the wiring from the coil to the PCM must be checked for a short to ground,if nothing is found,the problem is the coil driver for that cylinder has failed,the PCM would have to be replaced.I would then also replace the coil on that cylinder,since it may have shorted and damaged the PCM. Never crank or run the engine with the coils removed from the spark plugs on this engine as it will damage the coil driver in the PCM.
