how difficult is it to replace an rear oxygen sensor on a car

It is not difficult at all. Most oxygen sensors need a 7/8 inch or 22 mm wrench to remove and tighten. Just unplug the old one and use a wrench to break it loose from the exhaust. Be careful if it gets tight while removing turn it back in a little so you don't destroy the threads in the pipe. After the old one is out screw the new one in and tighten it. Now plug it in and you are ready to go.

should the wiring be changed or do i just unplug one and plug in the new one.

Just unplug the old one and plug in th new one. Some of the wire will come with and dont worry about the others
