i have a 1995 plymouth neon...the car runs.. just ...

i have a 1995 plymouth neon...the car runs.. just recently.. the engine gets really hott... it doesnt register to cause the oil and water cool levels read fine inside.. but the hoses and engine get really hot after running for like 10 minutes. the car just dies and shuts off what can this be?? i was thinking its the water pump.. but im not sure??
