I have a 1993 plymouth colt vista wagon with a 1.8L. the engine died aind I found that there was no spark. so I read the code using an anologe meter. It read 55.I found a web site that had codes for 1993 vehicles. it did'nt have plymouth but it's the same thing as a mitsubishi expo so I looked under mitsubishi but it did'nt have a code 55. then I looked under crysler and it did have a code 55. I't read ( 55      Completion of fault code display. ) that do you think?

Hi Ray,

First pull the dist cap and insure that when you crank the starter (ignition key in the crank position) that the rotor spins. If the rotor spins next step is to check both sides of the coil for battery 12vts. Place a test light (clip to ground)pointed end and place it on the negative side of the coil. The neg side should be marked "-". If it is not you will need to get a wiring diagram and locate the negative side. Have another person crank the vehicle and see if the test light "flashes". If it does you have a coil and or coil wire problem. If it does not you have a problem in the switching circuit. You will have to get a wiring diagram of the ignition system. Write back and I will help you. Do you have a DVOM?.
