My sisiter has a 79 Plymouth Volare 6cyl automatic transmission car, pretty basic. It starts fine and idles and everything great but the moment you put the car in drive the engine immediately stalls. Restarts fine.... Have any suggestions where to look first?

If it were me on a car like that I would look at a carb adjustment or float level problem. The idle speed would be my first check and adjust if needed. Then I would look at the idle air adjustment screws and see if they need adjusted.Check for vacuum leaks at hoses and the base of the carb.Spraying carb cleane will pinpoint them by rpm changes.Be careful you don't spray the exhaust manofold because carb cleaner is flammable.
