Question

i have a mazda b carburated pickup with miles it runs

Sent to Car Experts December 27, 2005 11:52 p.m.

I have a '90 Mazda B2200 carburated pickup with 135,000 miles. It runs okay, but I've been getting oil on the air filter for the past year. It comes through the PCV valve connection to the air cleaner. I replaced the PCV valve, but that doesn't make any difference. The air filter still gets soaked. Is the problem caused by worn valve guides, or what? Thanks.

Optional Information:

The problem is called blow by. This is normal for a worn engine with lots of miles. If your pcv system is in good working order. Then you are getting blow by "excessive crank case pressure blowing by the piston rings. The only repair would a engine overhaul. Another way to check for excessive blow by is to remove the oil fill cap when engine is running, if you get excessive pressure blowing out the top of valve cover when cap is removed, a good thing to check when purchasing a older used vehicle.
