I have a 2002 Oldsmobile Alero that has @ 24000 miles. Recently I noticed that when I have to brake at over 55 MPH my steering wheel vibrates alot. I was not doing much highway driving but will be now. My husband took the car out last night to check it & he is stumped.

nothing. I just noticed this problem. we just moved here and do not have a good mechanic

Hello

If problem only occurs while braking it is the front brake rotors, they are warped. When applying brake pedal to warped rotors the calipers move back and forth on their mounts causing the vibration,depending on severity of warpage the rotors may be machined or replaced and be sure to replace pads the same time to assure proper repair. If you have any questions just ask.

Reply to MechanicMan's Post: The problem only happens when I brake at high speed. Very specifically at over 55 mph.. at 55 it doesn't vibrate at 60 it does. You did not specify in your response how the speed factors in
