I have a 2002 Oldsmobile Silhouette. Driving around town it seems to be just fine. However, if I drive any distance and turn it off, it will not start for about 25 minutes. I have had a diagnostic run at the dealership and it shows no codes.   OnStar says there are no codes immediately after it happens. I have replaced the battery and the fuel filter. Any ideas?

Greetings! U could have a bad fuel pump. I would rec to check fuel pressure. Fuel injected cars are very fuel pressure sensitive. Fuel pressure is very important and must be within specifications! But if the pressure is low, it does not mean the pump is bad. A plugged fuel filter, a pinched line, and low voltage at the pump can contribute to low fuel pressure. All three must be check before replacing the pump! U can get a fuel pressure gauge at a local auto parts store for cheap. Good luck!

Reply to amedee's Post: I will check the fuel pressure and we've already replaced the fuel filter. It has been suggested that the pass key could cause this to happen or the crank sensor could be out of line. Are any of these more or less possible than the fuel pump? It happened in early July, last week and again this week. I did have a dealership look at it. It is stumping them. They do not think it is the fuel pump.

Yes those other things can cause this, but I do fuel pumps all the time for this problem! The Fuel pump would be the most common for this. When they go, the computer does not flag a code! This sounds right!

BE SURE to check the fuel pressure when the problem occurs. That way u will know for sure before replacing any parts!
